Thursday, March 13 Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

OUR EVER-PRESENT HELP

I have always loved the images of God and mountains found in the Bible. To me, mountains represent his magnificent strength. Even though mountains can crumble, as in the reading above, or volcanoes can permanently alter them, they still survive. I first saw mountains when I was 10 years old when I went on a family vacation to Colorado. Since then I`ve seen the Alps and mountains in several other states. I`ve hiked and enjoyed the peace and beauty. Each time I am amazed and think of God`s power and strength.

In the midst of life`s chaos and uncertainty, these words provide a profound assurance of God`s unwavering presence and strength. These verses remind us that God is not a distant observer but an ever-present help in times of trouble. As we navigate through life`s challenges, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, and we easily forget about his presence. However, this passage encourages us to find refuge in God`s strength.

When we face crises, doubts or fears, let us remember that God is our fortress. We can find peace knowing that he is in control, even when everything around us seems to be falling apart. Our faith does not negate the existence of problems, but it transforms our perspective. We can look to God as our protector and source of strength no matter what happens.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for being our refuge and strength. In times of trouble and uncertainty, help us to trust in your presence and power. Remind us that you are an ever-present help, ready to sustain and guide us through any storm. Grant us peace and strengthen our faith as we face each day. In Jesus` name, we pray. Amen
